Teaching: Professor Irving is advisor and coordinator of the RN/BSN tract. She teaches content related to the Professional Socialization Series at the undergraduate level as well as provides instruction in therapeutic communication principles to undergraduates. Professor Irving also teaches psychiatric-mental health clinical nursing at the undergraduate level. At the graduate level, she teaches Family Theory/Therapy content and supervises the family therapy clinical experiences.

Research: Professor Irving’s research interests are in family theory and family therapy; the chronically mentally ill and adoption.

Service: Professor Irving serves on the Faculty Practice Committee of the College of Nursing. She holds membership in Florida Nurse’s Association and Sigma Theta Tau International. In addition, she has an interest in the heritage and history of the College of Nursing at the University of Florida.

Clinical practice area/expertise: Professor Irving is an ARNP, CS in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, with a specialty in family therapy. Her clinical practice is in individual and family psychotherapy with special interest in Bowen Family Theory.

Education: Professor Irving received her BS in Nursing at Florida State University and her MS in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing at the University of Maryland.
