Master of Science in Nursing transition to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
The following advanced practice specialties will continue to be offered as master’s program tracks for a limited time:
- Nurse Midwifery
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Specialist/Nurse Practitioner
- Public Health Nursing
The last admissions to the MSN program in these specialties will occur no later than Fall 2011 for part-time study and Fall 2012 for full-time study. Effective Fall 2012 admission to advanced practice tracks will only be offered in the DNP program.
(***The Public Health Nursing master’s degree is grant-funded and thus admissions will continue past 2009 only if grant funding continues.)
The Clinical Nurse Leader, an advanced generalist program, will continue to be offered as a master’s degree program and will be the only remaining master’s degree program as of Fall 2012.
