Nursing Education Certificate Program
Overview
The College of Nursing offers a 14 credit certificate program in academic nursing. It is available for those who hold at least a master’s degree in nursing, and is designed to provide knowledge and skills in teaching baccalaureate and higher degree nursing.. This program is ideal for those enrolled in doctoral programs, or those who have recently completed doctoral study and are pursuing an academic career.
Applicants seeking admission to the Nursing Education Certificate program must be enrolled as doctoral students at UF OR admitted to UF as a postbaccalaureate student.
Admission Requirements
- A master’s degree in nursing or higher
- Current Florida Registered Nurse license
Program (14 credits)
- NGR 6930: The Nurse Educator- 3 credits
- EDF 6436: Theory of Measurement (or equivalent course)- 4 credits
- NGR 6930L: Teaching Practicum in Academic Nursing- 4 credits
- Education Elective- 3 credits

- EDA 6192: Educational Leadership: The Individual- 3 credits
- EDF 6211: Educational Psychology: General- 3 credits
- EDF 6215: Educational Psychology: Learning Theory- 3 credits
- EDF 6436: Theory of Measurement- 4 credits
- EDH 7225: Seminar: Curriculum in Higher Education- 3 credits
- EDH 7405: The Law and Higher Education- 3 credits
**Note: Both NGR 6930 and NGR 6930L must be taken at the UF College of Nursing.
Application Process
The application process for the Nursing Education Certificate Program involves the following:
1) Applicants must submit a University of Florida Post-Baccalaureate application (link to UF Application) .
2) Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended are to be submitted to UF as well as the UF College of Nursing to the following address:

**UF graduates are not required to submit transcripts.
3) A Resume/Curriculum Vitae should also be mailed to the College.
